Barbarians are melee combat masters who dive face-first into the fray, wielding their arsenal of weapons to terrifying effect. In Diablo 4, the class received a ton of new Legendary effects that crank their devastating power up to new heights.

There are a lot of Legendary Aspects to choose from in Diablo 4, and figuring out an effective build from all of them can be confusing. Here are some of the best Aspects players can use for the Barbarian class.

1 Aspect of the Expectant

Underroot dungeon location in Diablo 4

Considering how many Barbarian builds rely on using Basic Skills for mobility and utility, Aspect of the Expectant easily makes its way into this list. It makes it so Basic Skills increase the damage of Core Skills with each attack. This is especially powerful for builds using Double Swing or Deathblow since these all involve a ton of Basic Skill use.

Aspect of the Expectant can be unlocked by clearing the Underroot Dungeon in Scosglen. Players will have to clear the Tur Dulra Stronghold first to access it.

2 Edgemaster's Aspect

This legendary affix is another staple in many Barbarian builds in both early and late-game portions of Diablo 4. It increases the damage of Core skills based on how much resource a character has—builds using Hammer of the Ancients and Whirlwind benefit massively from this aspect, especially if it's equipped on a two-handed weapon.

Edgemaster's Aspect can be unlocked by clearing the Oldstones dungeon in Scosglen's The Downs region between Cerrigar and Tirmair.

3 Aspect of the Umbral

Champion's Demise dungeon location in Diablo 4

This one is a must-have for early-mid-game Whirlwind builds. Aspect of the Umbral solves Fury problems by generating 1 Fury every time an enemy is Crowd-Controlled. Players can easily take advantage of this effect by equipping a Two-Handed Sword or using it in the Expertise Technique slot together with the Hamstring passive.

Complete the Champion's Demise dungeon in the Dry Steppes to unlock this Aspect. It is located east of Jirandai, along the base of a cliff.

4 Bold Chieftain's Resource Aspect

A Purveyor of Curiosities in Diablo 4

Bold Chieftain's Resource is a mandatory Aspect for many late-game builds. It decreases the cooldown of Shouts depending on the number of enemies around the Barbarian. It has excellent synergy with the Marshal Paragon Glyph, which also reduces Shout cooldowns. Use both with Whirlwind or Walking Arsenal builds to breeze through endgame content with near-unlimited Fury.

This Aspect is not unlockable, and it can only be obtained from random drops. The best way to get this is to buy Rings from Curiosity vendors in towns.

Recommended Skill-Specific Aspects

Legendary effects at work with Diablo 4's Barbarian class

The four Aspects listed above are excellent for a majority of Barbarian builds, and they can often overlap with other setups. For players who are looking for specific Aspects for their favorite Core Skills and effects, here are a few recommendations:

  • Hammer of the Ancients: Ancestral Force, Inner Calm
  • Whirlwind: Berserk Ripping, Dire Whirlwind
  • Double Swing: Windlasher, Anemia
  • Rend: Slaking, Skullbreaker, Iron Blood
  • Upheaval: Ancestral Echoes

Diablo 4 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
