In the latest installment of the Diablo franchise, Diablo 4 gives players five different class options to choose from: Barbarian, Necromancer, Sorcerer, Rogue, and Druid. These classes will have completely different playstyles, and how someone chooses to use their abilities will depend greatly on how they play. The Sorceress class has quite a few passive abilities for players to choose from, and it can be difficult to decide which is best, so here are just a few of the most useful ones.

12 Cold Front

Using this passive skill will increase the amount of chill players apply to enemies while they have their barriers up. This is especially useful for players who always have their barriers up and want to do even more to hinder the efforts of enemy forces.

Players will have to spend two points to get this skill, once to get Icy Veil (another passive skill) and another to gain access to Cold Front. This skill also ranks up, increasing the likelihood at which chill will apply to enemies while the character has an active barrier.

11 Conjuration Mastery

Diablo 4 Stronghold Bosses DuzAgur

This passive skill is perfect for Sorcerers who love their conjurations. For players who like having multiple conjurations active on the battlefield, this passive skill is a must-have. Having this passive skill increases dealt damage for each active conjuration.

This makes conjuration-based Sorceresses all the more formidable, as if their magic wasn't intimidating enough! This passive skill can also be ranked up, increasing the percentage that damage is boosted by going from 1% at rank one to 3% at rank three.

10 Coursing Currents

Holding down Lightning Storm can deal huge AOE damage

Coursing Currents is a super useful passive skill for Sorcerers, especially those focused on damage output, which most builds in Diablo 4 are. This passive skill increases the player's chance to score a critical strike against their opponents every time they hit an enemy with a shock skill.

The chance to get a critical hit stacks until the player actually gets one and then it resets. This is an incredibly useful passive skill to have, especially for players that already use their shock skills a lot.

9 Devastation

Some players may consider this passive skill to be an absolute must-have for any Sorceress hoping to make something of themselves. This passive skill increases a character's total mana, which is a vital resource for any caster.

Players looking to make the most of their spells should seriously consider having this passive skill in their arsenal, especially as the amount of extra mana it provides increases as the skill is ranked up, eventually reaching nine extra mana points at rank three.

8 Devouring Blaze

diablo 4

This passive skill will especially come in handy for players that favor their fire skills above all else. This useful skill aids players by increasing critical strike damage against burning enemies. That damage is further increased if the target is also immobilized.

This allows players to take advantage of their vulnerable enemies and deal some serious damage. This skill can be obtained using two points, with players first having to acquire the Inner Flames skill before adding Devouring Blaze to their repertoire.

7 Elemental Attunement

Having this passive skill increases the chance for a Lucky Hit to occur, which is extra useful with this passive ability because performing a critical strike while having this passive will cause the cooldown of a defensive skill to reset, making it fit for use immediately after.

This skill can be ranked up to rank three and the chance for a Lucky Hit will increase with each rank, going from 5% at rank one to 15% at rank three. This skill is especially useful for characters that prioritize defense, as well as attack.

6 Icy Veil

diablo 4

The Icy Veil passive ability is a great choice for players that value their barriers and want to keep them up as long as possible. This skill is a simple one, but it's worthwhile for the defense-focused character.

Icy Veil simply makes barriers last longer, and the percentage by which its duration is increased is affected by the ranks. A rank one Icy Veil will give players an extra 5% whereas a rank three Icy Veil will grant players an additional 15%.

5 Overflowing Energy

This Key Passive ability is so powerful that it can't even be upgraded. Players will gain access to this passive skill as part of the last cluster of the Sorcerer skill tree. This is an absolute must-have for players that prioritize shock skills as that's what this ability is focused on.

Characters with Overflowing Energy will get an additional Crackling Energy to hit an enemy. On top of that, when this spell is cast, the cooldown of other shock skills is reduced.

4 Precision Magic

diablo 4

While there are a few skills that increase the chance for a Lucky Hit to occur, there are plenty of skills that require a critical strike but don't increase the likelihood of it. This may be a useful passive skill to use in conjunction with another passive that rewards critical strikes.

On its own though, it's still incredibly useful, because who doesn't love getting a critical hit? This passive ability can be ranked up and with each rank increase, the chance for a Lucky Hit increases.

3 Shatter

diablo 4

Shatter is a Key Passive ability, which players can only have one of per character build, so the choice is a pretty important one. Shatter is perfect for Sorceresses that love to freeze their enemies with chill skills.

When a character has Shatter equipped and freezes an enemy, that enemy will explode after the freeze expires for the amount of damage that was dealt to them while frozen. This is a great skill for players that like freezing their enemies and then bombarding them with damage.

2 Shocking Impact

Pulverize may be the best Druid skill available

For players that can never do enough damage, this is the perfect choice of passive ability. Especially useful for players that like using spells that stun their opponents, this passive skill will allow players to really take advantage of stunned enemies.

Every time an enemy gets stunned by the character, players will deal an additional amount of lightning damage to them. This skill also ranks up, starting at 15% at rank one and increasing all the way to 45% at rank three.

1 Warmth

Characters that can't get enough of fire magic will greatly benefit from having this passive ability equipped. For each nearby burning enemy, players will actually heal every second. The amount a character heals is also increased if the burning enemy is a boss!

This passive ability is so useful it may even be worth it for players who don't gravitate toward fire spells to get themselves at least one to make use of this ability. This skill will also rank up, making it all the more useful as characters get more powerful.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
