Part of the fun of RPGs is building a character from a level one noob into an efficient and elegant killing machine. Now that players have been able to experience the leveling process, the internet is filled with various ideas for Skill Tree builds for every class, each more devastating than the next.

The Diablo 4 Skill Tree is the way to tailor class abilities to fit certain in-game activities, so they're strong in some ways, weak in others, but always entertaining. These builds might be for leveling, endgame, PvP, or PvE, but they all share two important traits; they're both fun to play and ridiculously overpowered. These are the best overpowered builds in Diablo 4.

7 The Whirlwind Barbarian

This is a build that already gets a lot of attention for how fun and overpowered it is, and it's a reputation that's well-earned. Named after the Whirlwind skill in the Talent Tree, which is a Core skill, this is also a build that can be used for leveling as much as endgame.

Barbarians are a melee class anyway, and this build makes the most of that designation. Players can vary other talents to some degree, as long as they max out Whirlwind and focus on other AoE powers that stun or slow multiple enemies, like Stomp or Leap, so it's easier to mow them down.

6 Master Of The Hydra, Sorcerer

Why do the hot and heavy lifting when someone else can, especially if that someone is a multi-headed hydra that spits fire? Hydra is a Conjuration spell, which is on the fourth branch of the Skill Tree, so this is more of a mid-level or endgame build than an early leveling one.

Maxing out Hydra is essential for this blazing build, and whether or not the Sorcerer wants to integrate this with some frost or lightning or go with the standard Pyromancer template is up to them. That would include powers like Meteor and Fire Wall. Players should also keep an eye out for any gear or weapons that give them extra ranks in their spells, especially Hydra.

5 Wrath Of The Werebear, Druid

This is everything built for Druids; it's durable, deadly, extremely overpowered when it comes to damage, and equally useful for PvE and PvP. Use it to level or rend the way through endgame because it's just as good either way.

Start with Maul, the Basic skill that gives the Druid the power to turn into a bear. As the rest of the skill tree opens up, focus on talents like Demoralizing Roar, Trample, and Grizzly Rage. Any mix of talents that can help give the Druid better armor or durability is another priority.

4 Twisting Blade Rogue

Usually touted as an endgame build, the Twisting Blade talent that gives this build its name is available as a Core skill early in the game. That means the character can get it early and build on it as they progress to the endgame, and by then, they'll have crafted one of Diablo's most overpowered builds.

Rogues are known for their deadly DPS anyway, and this one makes them a deadly foe in melee combat. Start this build by maxing out Twisting Blade once the Core abilities are reached, and while doing so compliment it with other talents like Disciplined Dash or Fundamental Puncture.

3 Bodies Are Bombs, Necromancer

When it comes to fun, it's hard to go wrong with the Necromancer. Melt enemies with Decompose or slice them with Reap, but to have a Necromancer that bases their build on making their minions into living bombs, Corpse Explosion is the most important skill.

This ability isn't available until the Corpse & Macabre level of the skill tree, so it's a build that's better for mid-level and endgame play. In the meantime, get Decompose as a Core ability and Enhance it for Acolytes Decompose. This leads to Army of the Dead eventually, an Ultimate skill, and that's just as cool as it sounds.

2 The Storm Wolf Druid

Just look at the name. How can this build not be badass? It's not as tanky as the other Druid builds that focus on bears and Thorns, but for players who are keen on a version of the elemental Druid that movies with the swift and powerful forces of nature, it's an ideal choice. These Druids use their shapeshifting skills along with animal minions, and of course, those are wolves.

Start with Claw Basic Skill, with Maul as an option, but make sure that Lightning Storm and Shred are prioritized as Core abilities. When Companion skills are available, Wolves is the obvious choice. Players can also combine their elemental powers with a bear instead of a wolf if they want a higher armor class.

1 Thorny Barbarian

barbarian armor options

This is a unique build that's based on an offensive stat as opposed to an active skill, which puts it in a class by itself when it comes to class customization in Diablo 4. Every character has access to this ability, which acts as a boost to armor but also deals damage to enemies. The more powerful a character's core stat is, the more powerful their Thorns will be.

For a squishy class, this isn't as useful or versatile as their own defensive spells. If it's a Barbarian with thicker skin, they can build up their core stat, Strength, to such an extent that it makes their Thorns a deadly weapon along with a reliable defense.

Use any and every opportunity to increase a character's Strength using potions, bonuses on gear, or other buffs. As the build progresses, ensure that any passive or active abilities in the Skill Tree that improve Thorns is maxed out. Examples include Outburst and Tough as Nails in the Defensive Skills Tree.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
