Cellars appear in every region of the map, and they can be well worth the effort. They’re short experiences, but they offer significant rewards. Most are simple, straightforward affairs requiring players to defeat an elite enemy to earn treasure, but there are a few that change it up a bit with puzzles, traps, or events.

How do Cellars Work in Diablo 4?

The Hillside Storage cellar complete

Cellars appear everywhere in Diablo 4, hidden away in its furthest corners or in the open along the road. They don’t appear on the map, but when a player is in the vicinity, they’ll pop up on their minimap.

When players enter a cellar, they’ll find a small, simple map that usually consists of an antechamber, a small hallway, and a medium-sized room. That’s it. In the room will be some objective that needs to be completed. Typically, it’s an elite enemy, but some have a civilian that needs to be saved, a shrine that needs to be cleansed, or a puzzle that needs to be solved.

After the cellar’s objective is completed, the player will earn a treasure chest befitting their efforts. Cellars that house shrines don’t reward a chest, but the shrines’ effects offer rewards in themselves. You can also usually find the following loot:

  • Gold and XP
  • Crafting Materials
  • Rare and Legendary Items
  • Demon Hearts
  • Sacred Weapons

The Scosglen region is a wide swathe of richly-forested land on the north side of the map. In it, players can discover 26 cellars in total. Three of them require Side Quests to be completed first. They’re marked with a blue star on the image above. The rest of the cellars can be entered and completed by any adventurer that stumbles upon them.
