There are five large open-world areas that players can explore in Diablo 4, and at the very start of the game, players find themselves in the Fractured Peaks. Each of the Diablo 4 zones offer a ton of things for players to discover and reach 100% map completion – and thanks to the game's level scaling system, players have meaningful content to take on from Level 1 to Level 100.

Every Diablo 4 area has a hub city, and in the Fractured Peaks, this city is Kyovashad. Players make it to Kyovashad soon into the campaign, but there's a lot more than the main story to take on. From Altars of Lilith to Strongholds to Unique Bosses and everything in between, completing the Fractured Peaks map isn't as easy as one might think for a starter zone.

Updated July 20, 2023 by Erik Petrovich: To fully complete the Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks map, players must find and either collect or complete every Waypoint, Stronghold, Point of Interest, Dungeon, and Altar of Lilith. Players must also complete every side quest in Diablo 4 for each zone to get 100% completion – in the Fractured Peaks, there are a total of 35 of these side quests, each of which takes players into a unique story (or just a short excursion into the wilderness). Side quests sometimes grant great rewards, including consumables, salvage and herb caches for rare crafting materials, and sometimes even unique items, so it's worth coming back to pick these up even if you've already completed Renown for the Fractured Peaks.

All Altars of Lilith in Fractured Peaks

Altars of Lilith in Diablo 4 grant permanent power boosts to all characters account-wide. Usually these come in the form of a small +2 boost to a base stat like Willpower or Strength, but they can sometimes grant other rewards like Paragon Points and Obol capacity. It's a good idea to get all of these on one character as these boosts will apply to other characters. The altars can still be re-discovered on new characters, but they will only reward Renown.

In the Fractured Peaks, there are a total of 28 Altars to Lilith of a total 160 Altars in Diablo 4. Two of these can be found before ever entering Kyovoshad. The most efficient way to collect all of the Altars of Lilth on the Fractured Peaks Map is to head southeast from Kyovoshad and loop around the Fractured Peaks clockwise, after collecting the two from the prologue.

Fractured Peaks Map Dungeon Locations

Diablo 4 dungeons are spread throughout Sanctuary and always offer one important reward upon their first completion: Aspects for the Codex. Aspects are earned by beating the end boss of a dungeon, after which they become available for use in imbuing Legendary abilities onto items. Check your Codex collection to track individual Aspects - this places a marker on the map and a guideline that leads directly to its entrance, making it easier to collect the Aspects that are important for your class.

In the Fractured Peaks map, there are a total of 23 dungeons, three of which can only be accessed after players beat a Stronghold in the region.

All Strongholds In Fractured Peaks Map

Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks Map Stronghold Locations

Strongholds are a one-time event in Diablo 4 that players can take on for a heap of bonuses, including 100 Renown towards the associated region. These areas are infested with monsters or enemies, and it's the player's responsibility to restore peace to the area and bring back its citizens.

Once a Stronghold is completed, players typically gain access to a new town or village with a few merchants and side quests. Some Waypoints are locked behind Stronghold completion, too, as well as a select few Dungeons. On the Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks map there are three total Strongholds: Malnok, to the west of Kyovoshad, Kor Dragan, in the north, and Nostrava, just to the main city's southeast.

Where To Find Every Fractured Peaks Waypoint

Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks Map Waypoint Locations

Waypoints are vital to Diablo 4 players' ability to get around Sanctuary with any kind of efficiency – the world is enormous, especially compared to its predecessors. Waypoints are the fast travel system of Diablo 4, and it's important to get them all to make travelling to Nightmare Dungeons, World Bosses, Legion Events, and Helltides much easier at the endgame.

Unlocking a Waypoint also gives players a decent chunk of Renown, and though there are only seven Waypoints on the Fractured Peaks map, those small boosts add up. Most of the waypoints in the Fractured Peaks are discovered through the story, but a few may be hidden by the fog of war if players take a direct, linear path to each main quest objective.

Fractured Peaks Cellar Locations

Cellars are a short, 1-2 minute objective that players will come across constantly in the Fractured Peaks. Though each has a unique name, the events that occur inside – and the enemies players face – appear to be randomized to some level.

Completing a Cellar usually rewards a regular Chest upon completion, but they also count towards Fractured Peaks map progress and drop important crafting items like Obols and Hefty Beast Bones. In the Fractured Peaks, there are at least 30 cellars for players to hunt down, but some will only appear during special events, like the exorcisms side quest in Kyovoshad.

Where To Find World Bosses in Fractured Peaks

Each of the five areas of Diablo 4 host an arena specifically for World Bosses. There are three possible World Bosses that can spawn currently: Ashava the Pestilent, Wandering Death, and Avarice the Gold Cursed. They appear to spawn about every six hours in real-time, and will typically warn and remind players in the zone half an hour before.

Players can team up with others in Diablo 4's always-online MMO-like world to take on World Bosses, and they don't even need to be in a group. As long as players can defeat the World Boss before the timer runs out, everyone who was nearby will be rewarded – sometimes, with a special weekly cache.

The World Boss spawn location on the Fractured Peaks map is in its far eastern reaches in an area called The Crucible. There isn't a waypoint here, though, so be prepared to make a few minutes' ride to the Crucible every time a world boss spawns.

Unique Bosses in Fractured Peaks

Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks Map Unique Boss Locations

There are a handful of unique, named bosses who roam around Sanctuary that players can take on. The spawn rate and means to encounter these world bosses differ, and they can appear in a wide area around their regular spawn locations. These bosses aren't World Bosses like Ashava, Death, and Avarice, but they do have health bars like the ones from end-of-dungeon bosses and are about as tough.

In total, there are four elite, unique enemy spawns in the Fractured Peaks map. Rotsplinter can be found to the northwest of Kyovoshad, while Sir Lynna is just north as the crow flies. Corlin Hulle is deep in the northeast of the Fractured Peaks map, while Osgar Reede is found in the area's deep southwest.

All Side Quests in the Fractured Peaks Map

The Fractured Peaks is the first zone that most players will try to tackle, unless they want to journey all the way to Scosglen or the Dry Steppes from the start of Diablo 4. But even if the zone is skipped, it's worth coming back to for the stories told through the Fractured Peaks side quests.

On the Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks map, there are a total of 35 of these side quests, some of which are hidden behind completion of a Stronghold, progression through the campaign storyline, or other prerequisite quests and requirements.

Others, still, can only be started once an associated item drops from enemies out in the world, which is ultimately up to chance. Full completion of the Fractured Peaks Diablo 4 map requires all 35 of these side quests to be marked off.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
