After creating a seasonal character for Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant, players may find that they have no Renown rewards and that their map is fully covered in fog. However, fans that earned Renown and revealed the map with a pre-season character may be able to transfer some of their work to their seasonal character. This guide is here to detail exactly how that is done, and it should help players that are discovering that their Renown and map exploration did not carry over to Diablo 4 Season 1.

Diablo 4: Season 1 Renown and Map Progress Transfer Guide

To begin, it is important to establish that while all map exploration that was done on an Eternal Realm can be transferred to the Seasonal Realm, that is not the case with Renown. Indeed, only the Renown that was earned by interacting with Diablo 4's Altars of Lilith and discovering new areas is carried over to seasonal characters, and that should be enough to immediately claim two tiers of Renown rewards in each of the map's five regions.

That said, it is possible for fans to earn the remaining Renown rewards during Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant, provided that they are willing to complete the other Renown-granting activities with their seasonal characters. Those activities include completing side quests, clearing dungeons, and activating waypoints, and players that engaged with them on a pre-season character may not be particularly excited to do so again. The Season Journey does push fans toward some of those activities, though, providing some additional incentive to work through them.

With all of said, players that want to transfer their eligible Renown and map exploration to a seasonal character in Diablo 4 must simply log in to the Eternal Realm character with which they made the most progress. Indeed, fans that execute this simple action should find that the carry over has been performed as soon as they return to their seasonal character, and they can claim their Renown rewards at the top of the map.

When that is done, players will be ready to start experiencing the Season of the Malignant's new content, including Malignant Hearts. Fans will get a solid understanding of how to acquire and use these items while working through the Season of the Malignant's new quest line, and they can look forward to incorporating them into their builds. The Season of the Malignant also introduces Diablo 4's first Battle Pass, which gives fans the opportunity to earn a variety of cosmetic rewards.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
