Diablo 4's first season is officially underway, and players that want to engage with its content will need to create a seasonal character. While this is not a difficult thing to do, fans may find themselves confused by the process as they work through character creation. This guide is here to dispel that confusion, and it will help players make a seasonal character and get started with Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant.

Diablo 4: How to Make a Seasonal Character

The first step toward making a seasonal character is to select Create a New Character on the main menu. From there, players should select their preferred Diablo 4 class, customize the appearance of their character, and select Finalize. This action will bring players to a menu within which they can pick their desired Gameplay Settings and character name, and they should click Start Game when those fields are addressed.

Upon clicking Start Game, a Hero Realm Selection window will appear, and there are two options from which players can pick. Those options are Seasonal Realm and Eternal Realm, and fans should select Seasonal Realm to create a character that is capable of engaging with the Season of the Malignant's new content.

To note, seasonal content is only accessible upon completion of the campaign, and players are thus advised to skip Diablo 4's campaign by checking the associated option during character creation. For full clarity, that option appears under the aforementioned Gameplay Settings section, and it is unlocked upon beating the campaign once.

Diablo 4: How to Start Season 1

Once a seasonal character has been created, and the campaign has been skipped or completed, players can immediately jump into the Season of the Malignant content. Indeed, fans will discover that they have the first Season Quest, Burning From Within, as soon as their character enters the game, and they can progress it by speaking with Vytran in Kyovashad.

That said, players are certainly not required to start the Season of the Malignant by pursuing its quests, and they may prefer to spend some time leveling up in dungeons and the overworld first. The seasonal quest line will introduce fans to the Season of the Malignant's central mechanic, though, and they will definitely want to complete it at some point. For the uninitiated, that mechanic takes the form of Malignant Monsters, creatures that drop the Malignant Hearts that can be inserted into jewelry to receive various bonuses.

Diablo 4 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
