There are dozens of cosmetic items for players to collect in Diablo 4, which can be earned in-game through a variety of means. There is a real-money microtransaction store in D4, which also offers a selection of exclusive cosmetics, but players don't need to buy anything to fill their wardrobe and stable with customizable looks.

In addition to standard armor and weapon transmogrifications, Diablo 4 players can customize the look of their mount with mount armor. Most mount armor cosmetics are tied to random drops from world events, elite mobs, and other PvE challenges – but five Diablo 4 mount armors can only be earned through the game's PvP system.

How To Get D4 PvP Mount Armor

By engaging in PvP, or completing PvE objectives in one of the game's two PvP areas, players can earn Seeds of Hatred. After collecting a decent sum of these, players can head to an Altar to turn these Seeds into Shards of Hatred. These are permanently added to a character, and will no longer be dropped on death in the Fields of Hatred.

Once this ritual is complete, head back to the nearest town (Denshar in Kehjistan, or Alzuuda in the Dry Steppes). On the mini-map look for an icon that looks like a Horse's head with a smaller bloodshard icon on its bottom left.

Baklir in Denshan and vendors are Unconventional Mount Armor vendors, and will sell a variety of trophies, mount armors, and even a unique mount for varying amounts of Shards. The mount armors, specifically, will set players back 40,000 Shards of Hatred apiece, for a total of 200,000 should players decide to go for all five.

Where To Get Shards of Hatred

Players who want to engage in a bit of Diablo 4 PvP to earn these Shards of Hatred can go to two locations: the Fields of Hatred in the southwest Dry Steppes, and its sister Fields of Hatred in southern Hawezar.

Both locations warn players that they are entering a PvP zone upon entering, but be sure to turn on Bloodmarked on your character (via the emote wheel) to be able to attack other players. Note that PvP isn't actually required to get Seeds and Shards of Hatred, as players can complete events and kill Elites in the area to gain Seeds instead. However, Bloodmarked players will still be able to attack non-Bloodmarked players in a PvP zone.
