Diablo 4 has lots of ways for players to customize not only their own character's appearance, but the appearance of their noble steed too. By collecting new breeds, cosmetic armor, and displayable trophies, Diablo 4 players have a lot of control over the look of their mount.

There are a few ways that players can acquire more mounts and horse cosmetics in Diablo 4, including the use of the game's somewhat controversial microtransaction store. But these cosmetics aren't just limited to real-life purchases – certain vendors and events in Diablo 4 reward new breeds and mount armors that are well worth hunting down.

The Microtransaction Store Rotates Horses and Cosmetics Regularly

The easiest way to get new mounts, mount armors, and trophies is to simply purchase them from the in-game microtransaction shop. The Diablo 4 shop rotates its stock on a regular basis, so new cosmetics and horses can pop up all the time. The downside is the cost, which can be prohibitive to many players.

Without doing any grinding in-game, though, players who are willing to spend the money can ride around on store-exclusive horse breeds wearing unique armor. The Deluxe and Ultimate editions of Diablo 4 also come with a few unique mounts and armors, like the Light Bearer and Temptation mounts and the Comparison of Faith armor. These upgraded editions of Diablo 4 can be purchased from the in-game shop.

Both Regular and PvP Stablemasters Sell Mounts and Armors

There are two types of stablemasters in Diablo 4: the ones players run into in almost every major settlement in Sanctuary, and the two that offer PvP-exclusive cosmetics. The regular stablemasters all share a vendor inventory made up of three items: the Grey Steed, the Mottled Steed, and the Sturdy Saddle. The price of these breeds and saddle scale with players' level, so to get the best price, start a new character and head straight for Kyovoshad.

PvP vendors will sell a host of special mount armors in exchange for Shards of Hatred. To earn these Shards, go out and participate in events, kill bosses, and take on other players in Fields of Hatred areas. After purifying earned Seeds of Hatred at an altar, they become usable as currency with these Unconventional Stablemasters.

Specific Events and Bosses Drop Cosmetics and Breeds

Just like most of the best gear in Diablo 4, new breeds, horse cosmetics, and mount trophies can drop from much of the content in the open world. World Bosses and Legion Events seem to be particularly good for farming new mount cosmetics in-game, as each World Boss has a mount armor that can drop, and Legion Events' mastery chest bonus gives more chances at one dropping.

New horses and mount armors can drop from almost anywhere, including regular enemies, repeatable events with the orange highlight, Cellars, and everything in between. But Legion Chests' higher-quality and larger quantity of rewards can greatly increase one's chances of finding new mount customizations.

By defeating specific enemies across Sanctuary, players have a chance to earn unique Trophies, too. These decorate the rear haunch of a mount, and are typically rewarded for completing an event or specific bosses – by defeating The Butcher, for example, players can get the Butcher's Cleaver to display as a trophy.
