The chasing of Lilith is what drives most of the events in Diablo 4, but the Mother of Sanctuary is not working alone. It becomes clear early on that she has the help of a faithful servant in the form of the Pale Man, otherwise known as Elias, a former member of the Horadrim. With his help, she is able to influence the minds of the people and begin her reign of corruption.

As such, it becomes increasingly important for players to hunt down Elias and make him pay for what he has done. However, that is not an easy task, and as events in both Acts 3 and 5 will show, the battle to take down this powerful adversary requires patience and skill. Thankfully, with this guide on how to beat Elias in Diablo 4, it should be an easier affair.

Throughout the entirety of the game, players will begin learning more about Elias. Lorath will share that he was a former disciple obsessed with gaining more knowledge and power and not entirely on board with how things were moving with the Horadrim.

With visions of a better tomorrow with Lilith at the helm, it is the actions of Elias that put into motion the events in Diablo 4. That sets players on a course for collision with this competent enemy.

How to Beat Elias in Diablo 4

In order to end this foe, it is necessary to understand just how hard that task is. Players will face off against Elias multiple times, but because of his immortality, winning is an impossible endeavor, that is until the secret of his immortality is discovered.

During the Piercing the Veil objective, players will arrive in the temple of Lilith and finally meet the enigmatic Pale Man, who goes down way too easily. As expected, this is hardly the last time he will make an appearance, and throughout the temple, there will be two more encounters.

Instead of him being the biggest danger, it is the mobs that help Elias that pose the bigger threats in this Act, especially for solo players. He will eventually escape to live another day.

Fighting Elias in Act 5

After burning the mummified finger of Elias, his immortality is no more, and the real battle begins in Act 5 - On the Precipice. Elias is, without a doubt, a threatening foe, armed with powerful magical attacks and the ability to summon strong mobs to do his bidding. Players will always have to be aware of where they are on the battlefield and split attention to even the odds as much as possible.

His usual ranged projectiles can be dodged, but that is the least of the worries. There are two AoE attacks of note, the first being a wide cone of blood that hit hards in front of Elias, so dodge to the side whenever possible. Next is the use of blood vapors that cover a large swathe of the ground, which leads to multiple hits. This attack will connect no matter what, so make sure health is at an optimum with healing potions before going on the offensive.

The mobs that are summoned are also dangerous, with Pit Lords and Oppressors part of the fun. Use powerful skills to bring them down quickly and focus all attention back on Elias. With some luck, the lost Horadrim will be brought down, and the endgame of Diablo 4 will soon arrive.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
