Who are Genbar and Mahmon in Diablo 4?

Unlike the many more familiar faces players will meet in the game, Genbar and Mahmon are not two names that come to mind when thinking of the series. That is because they are entirely new to the franchise but remain obstacles that must be knocked down nonetheless, with players expected to be around level 43 to 47 at this stage.

Players will seek out Genbar, a woodcarver of some renown, during Act 2/3, hoping to find answers as to where to locate Elias and Lilith. Unfortunately, arriving at his workshop will reveal that he has fallen foul to Lilith's influences and is now willing to kill for the Mother. As for Mahmon, they arrive as a surprise guest later on.

Thankfully, even solo Diablo 4 players are not alone during this boss fight, as Lorath will be along for the ride during this trip to find Genbar. As things kick off, Genbar will be the sole opponent capable of a few melee swings but more dangerous at range with his demonic spells.

Kite the boss as he throws out projectiles and deal with the lesser demons he can summon. It should be a relatively easy affair to get him near to half health, which is where things get more interesting. Elias will work his magic to provide a gift to Genbar in the form of Mahmon, a demon summoned to even the odds.

Think of Mahmon as a more powerful Pit Lord, able to deal significant damage using its giant frame and swinging weapon. Things will undoubtedly get more hectic, but the key is to focus on one of the bosses to bring them down first. Genbar is the prime target, so keep attacking the woodcarver and use spells, traps, and skills to stun either one or both bosses simultaneously to maintain high health.

This will prevent more enemies from joining the fight, and once Genbar is down, it becomes a war of attrition with Mahmon. Again, debilitating skills and spells work wonders against the demon, and should Lorath catch its attention, feel free to attack from afar to avoid any danger.

With good management of the numbers and the battlefield, the pair will be defeated in no time. Grab all the loot and seek out upgrades if needed, as the road to Lilith remains long and dangerous.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
