Diablo 4 is set to receive post-launch support in the form of Seasons, and the first Season will begin very soon. Prior to the start of Season 1, some players will undoubtedly want to know more about what to expect from this post-launch content, and developer Blizzard Entertainment has provided quite a lot of relevant information. This guide is here to go through that information, and it will help players secure a solid understanding of Seasons in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4: Seasons Explained

Perhaps the easiest way to start understanding Seasons is to use Season 1, which is set to begin in mid-July, as an example. Upon the start of the Season, players that have already completed Diablo 4's campaign will have the ability to create new characters that can be used to access the seasonal content. This content will take the form of new questlines and mechanics, and Blizzard will almost certainly reveal more specific details about the seasonal offerings closer to their release.

Additionally, the seasonal content will feature a 100 Tier Battle Pass that fans can work through with their new characters in order to obtain cosmetic items and Smoldering Ashes, a currency that can be used to unlock and upgrade seasonal bonuses called Season Blessings. Notably, players that want to have access to all 100 Tiers of rewards will need to purchase Diablo 4's Premium Battle Pass for $10, as only 27 Tiers will be available for free.

With respect to how fans will progress through the Battle Pass, the Season's Season Journey will play an important role. Essentially, the Season Journey will be a series of Objectives that look to get players engaged with the seasonal content, and they will receive Battle Pass progress, crafting materials, Legendary Aspects, and other rewards as they complete it. Fans will also advance through the Battle Pass by defeating monsters, completing quests, and performing other standard activities, and it is very likely that they will need to spend quite a lot of time on those tasks if they want to reach Tier 100.

Approximately three months after the beginning of Diablo Season 1, it will come to a close, and players' seasonal characters will be sent to the Eternal Realm. While fans will be free to continue progressing those characters, they can also start new ones in order to engage with a new Season that will be beginning. That Season will once again add new content, a Battle Pass, and a Season Journey, and players can look forward to this seasonal cycle repeating every three months for the foreseeable future.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
