The shift toward an MMO-style of game saw a lot of new additions to Diablo 4, from its open-world map to the many events that randomly pop up on Sanctuary. The inclusion of player titles is also a nod to the same style of vanity systems commonly seen in online games, and it gives this bleak dungeon crawler a bit more spice than usual.

Titles bring no benefit to gameplay, but they give players a way to show off their status and veterancy to everyone they come across. Diablo 4's got a ton of challenges, and wearing titles is the best way to let everyone know that a player has conquered them.

How to Equip Titles in Diablo 4

How to equip titles in Diablo 4

The full list of a player's equippable titles can be viewed by opening the inventory screen and selecting the "Profile" button to the left of the character's paper doll model. This will open a new window showcasing the character's gear and the player's full account name. On the bottom of this window is an "Edit" button, where players will be able to select the titles they want to equip.

Titles in this game are formed by combining a prefix and a suffix, and they usually come in the form of an adjective followed by a noun. Players can only equip one prefix and suffix at a time—no more, no less. Click on any available word from each column, then click "Confirm" to save changes.

How to Unlock More Titles

Challenges in Diablo 4

Additional prefixes and suffixes are unlocked by completing Challenges, otherwise known as achievements. Players will unlock a ton of these possible title combinations by simply playing through the game as usual. However, some of the more coveted word choices are locked behind slightly more complicated or difficult achievements that require a bit more work and dedication.

Unfortunately, as of now, Diablo 4 does not have any means for players to look for the affixes they want to unlock. They will have to scrub through the achievements list manually to see which ones they want to pursue.

The Challenges list can be viewed by opening the Collections menu or by pressing Y on the keyboard. This contains every possible achievement for every class and all content the game has to offer. They can be sorted according to the ones that have been completed, those that are still in progress, or those that haven't been started yet. Finishing a Challenge will automatically unlock their associated title in the Profile screen.

Diablo 4 is available now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.
