Potions exist in every adventure game in some form, and the Diablo franchise has always had two major categories; health potions and elixirs that augment a player's abilities or attributes. Up until the latest title, extra potions were always found in the wilderness, purchased from vendors, or given as rewards.

The elixirs are also present in Diablo 4, but with a gathering and crafting twist to follow the trend of other games in the same category. Some of these can be made as soon as the player can make elixirs, which is early in the game, and they can be a handy tool to ease the leveling grind.

Elixirs And Gameplay

How to Increase Potion Capacity in Diablo 4

The elixirs that players can make at the Alchemist are used for a variety of abilities that often include health regeneration. They aren't in the first inventory screen but are stored Consumables tab of the character screen.

They can't be placed in hotkeys like abilities can, but these kinds of elixirs aren't meant to be used in combat or emergencies anyway. Elixirs in Diablo 4 generally last for thirty minutes and can also improve the rate at which a character gains XP along with various other effects.

The Alchemist can make a variety of potions and has the skills required when the character needs an Upgrade to their healing potions, but this isn't the NPC to visit when the health or potion supply is low. Only the Healer can replace the supply, and it's advisable to visit one every time a player visits town.

Unlocking The Alchemist

The Alchemist is one of the NPCs that's locked until the character reaches level 10. Once they do, a Priority Quest will appear in their Journal. It will send them to Veroka, the Alchemist in Kyovashad.

She'll ask if you want to upgrade from the low-level healing potion, which is Weak, to the next and better grade, which is Minor. The cost is eight pieces of Gallowine, a berry commonly found in the wilds. Once this is accomplished, all of Veroka and her peers can offer their services, and when an arrow appears next to the health potion icon, that's the signal that the potion can be upgraded.

Alchemists can also refine raw materials into rare, valuable, and higher-level ingredients to make more powerful elixirs. Make sure to check the Alchemist's inventory regularly as the leveling continues to keep up with any changes and additions.
