As players explore Sanctuary in Diablo 4, they will come across more than just weapons and armor to further enhance their character. Whether it is ore or herbs, there is always some sort of crafting related material for players to obtain and utilize as they work to stop Lilith from achieving her goals.

Aside from materials that are gathered out in the wilds or obtained from side quest caches, there is also a wide assortment of materials that are only obtained by salvaging gear. This is especially the case for rarer materials like Abstruse Sigil. Here is how Diablo 4 players can get Abstruse Sigil along with how to use it.

How to Get Abstruse Sigil

Players will have to be patient when it comes to this material, as it isn't easy to get, and it can take time to acquire even a small handful of them. In order to obtain Abstruse Sigil, players must salvage Legendary jewelry at a blacksmith. Jewelry consists entirely of just Amulets and Rings. Quality aside, Amulets and Rings tend to drop less than other items.

To complicate matters further, getting a Legendary Amulet or Ring is even more unlikely. Especially when players are just starting out and have neither completed the campaign nor reached level cap yet. Early on, the best way to get a Legendary is to progress through the campaign. At the end of each Act, players get a guaranteed Legendary. Of course, there is no way to guarantee what Legendary it will be, so it will be difficult to get a Legendary Amulet or Ring that could be salvaged for an Abstruse Sigil.

How to Use Abstruse Sigil

Just like with all the other materials, Abstruse Sigil is used for crafting. While things like herbs and ore are used for making potions and enhancing weapons and armor, Abstruse Sigil has its own purpose. Abstruse Sigil can be used by a Jeweler for upgrading Legendary Amulets and Rings. The Jeweler unlocks at Level 20 via a simple quest, so players won't have to wait long to make use of the Jeweler's services, including the ability to remove socketed gems.

Even when under level cap, Abstruse Sigils can be used to improve Legendary Amulets and Rings. However, since Abstruse Sigils start out as a very scarce resource for players it is recommended to just hold onto them until after completing the campaign. While upgrading equipment can be helpful, it is better to save rare materials like Abstruse Sigil for endgame content that awaits players after the campaign has been completed.

As players progress further, and unlock additional World Tiers, they will get more Legendaries at that point, and it will be much easier to acquire and use Abstruse Sigils to further empower builds.
