Diablo 4 has a wide variety of currency for players to use. From the average gold needed to purchase various things from regular merchants to Red Dust that is earned through PvP, there are plenty of things players will need to invest into to purchase certain items.

Murmuring Obols is another sort of currency players can earn through completing the various events around the map that other players can also help with such as the Legion events. By completing these successfully, a player will be rewarded with Murmuring Obols that can then be used to purchase various things at the Purveyor of Curiosities. However, as a player can only hold a max of five hundred Murmuring Obols at the start of the game, these are by far the best things for a player to invest in.

8 Whispering Key

Arguably the cheapest thing at the Purveyor of Curiosities in Diablo 4, Whispering Keys give players the potential of opening Silent Chests that spawn randomly around Sanctuary for the hope of getting some Rare Gear.

However, there has been some discourse between players that the gear found within the Silent Chests that are littered across the map aren't as worth it as they at first may seem. Therefore, a player at the start of the game may wish to purchase a couple of Whispering Keys but once they begin to level more these Murmuring Obols are best spent elsewhere.

7 Focuses

A player's weaponry is almost as important as their defense against opponents. Therefore, those that are playing as magic classes that are able to use a focus to heighten their damage may consider betting away some Obols to get a greater Focus.

Costing forty Murmuring Obols, players will want to cross their fingers in the hope of earning themselves a legendary Focus through this method. Although a slim chance, Murmuring Obols are easy to obtain through events and therefore a player is likely to have a lot to invest if they are unlucky and receive a common on their first go.

6 Rings

No matter what class a player decides to choose, every single player in Diablo 4 will want to have two legendary rings equipped whenever possible. These rings have the potential to make or break a player's build due to the variety of Aspects that can be found on them from those that improve resources to a ring that could better a player's skills.

Unsurprisingly, due to the importance of rings in a player's build, it will cost quite a couple of Murmuring Obols for players to get their hands on one. With the Purvey of Curiosities charging the player sixty Obols a go at getting something lucky, this is something a player will need to focus all their Murmuring Obols into if they want a chance of getting something good.

5 Two-Handed Weaponry

With so much weaponry available to each class in Diablo 4, it's unsurprising that players will feel the need to use their Murmuring Obols to better control what type of weapon they earn. One such example is purchasing Two-handed weaponry with the hope of receiving a legendary.

In the case of a Necromancer, this two-handed weapon would be a two-handed scythe that would cost a player seventy-five Murmuring Obols to purchase. This is unsurprisingly more expensive than a one-handed weapon due to it doing more damage and therefore players should consider what they are more likely to use when using their Obols to gamble on weapons.

4 Chest Armor

Legendary Armor is another thing players are likely to struggle to find in the wild of Sanctuary with many players commonly finding legendary gauntlets and boots instead. Therefore, after failing to find a legendary chest piece during a public event a player may wish to then take these Murmuring Obols they earned from completing it and using them to test their chances.

At the Purveyor of Curiosities a chest armor will cost a player forty Murmuring Obols, this is a lot cheaper than many other things provided by this merchant; this is therefore likely to give players more chances at getting their next legendary piece.

3 Shield

Similarly, a player may be using a class that requires more armor, therefore instead of a Focus or a two-handed weapon, they might opt for a shield. While legendary shields do exist, like many of the other gear in the game it is incredibly hard for the player to get their hands on one.

Thankfully, for only forty Obols, a player may attempt to find themselves a legendary one through the Purveyor of Curiosities. However, many of the rare shields that a player is likely to purchase through this merchant can also be a great help; salvaging it may give the player much needed materials.

2 Headgear

Continuing the theme of armor, another great way for a player to use their Murmuring Obols is through buying themselves a new helmet. Like the rest of the armor this will cost a player forty Murmuring Obols to gamble away.

Helmet are equally rare as any other piece of gear both as legendary as well as normal attire. Some may choose to invest their Obols into purchasing a helmet not even to wear it but instead to salvage it to unlock its style. Overall, it's important for a player to invest their Murmuring Obols to fill in the gaps in their armor.

1 Amulet

Like Rings, Amulets are another piece of gear that can cover a variety of bases while not taking up an armor slot. Unlike rings however, players can only equip one amulet at a time, and therefore they should be incredibly considerate about their choice.

The Purveyor of Curiosities charges sixty Obols for an Amulet which is the exact same price as Rings; with a player only needing one amulet they are less likely to be stuck in a loop of earning Obols to purchase an Amulet. This piece of neck jewelry can be incredibly valuable, and therefore every player should consider using their Obols in this way.

Diablo 4 is available now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.
