There are tons of cosmetics that players can get without paying any money in Diablo 4, including some unique ones that only drop from specific named bosses or world events. The Treasure Beast Barding is one such cosmetic in Diablo 4 that can only be found from one specific enemy.

There are mount armors that players can get from various Stables and PvP events throughout Sanctuary, and plenty of horse-related cosmetics tend to drop from Legion events. But to get the Treasure Beast Barding, players will have to pay careful attention to the World Boss timer and get lucky with which one spawns.

What Is The Treasure Beast Barding?

Diablo 4 horses-1

The Treasure Beast Barding is a cosmetic item players can get for their mounts in Diablo 4. It's one of the most ornate Mount Armors in the whole game, decorated with a multitude of weapons and a mix of gold and silver trim possibly to represent the vast wealth and items that can drop from Treasure Goblins.

Like other Mount Armors in Diablo 4, there aren't any actual stat bonuses to take advantage of by equipping the Treasure Beast Barding on your horse. A horse without any upgrades to its appearance – no bridle, no saddle, no defensive spikes – will do everything exactly the same as one that has been decorated by the player.

The only difference is aesthetic, though some cosmetics only drop as rewards for completing challenges, like beating The Butcher, and thus can reflect a player's accomplishments and skill better than a piece of randomized armor might.

How To Get The Treasure Beast Barding Cosmetic in Diablo 4

The Treasure Beast Barding can only be found by downing a specific world boss, in this case, Avarice the Gold Cursed. A new World Boss will appear every few hours in-game, but a notification only pops up for players who are in the same zone – try using a World Boss Timer to more accurately guess when one will spawn. It's up to chance which will spawn much of the time, so if Avarice appears to be spawning, get over there quickly as there might not be another chance for days.

Avarice the Gold Cursed is something like a gigantic Treasure Goblin, and even swings around a Treasure Chest on a chain. Two Treasure Goblins will spawn whenever the boss is staggered, too. But the Treasure Beast Barding will only drop from the boss's item pool or World Boss weekly cache, not the auxiliary Treasure Goblins.

Though no one knows the exact drop rate for the Treasure Beast Barding, but it seems to be pretty rare, so getting one before fellow clan members or friends is definitely something to boast about.
